From a real inspection

What a shingle roof looks like when it’s done.

Asphalt shingles wear out from the top down. This one was past the point where a repair makes sense, and here’s how you can tell.

What we found

  • The granules were gone across whole slopes, with the fiberglass mat showing through. That’s the layer that protects everything underneath, and once it’s exposed the roof is on borrowed time.
  • Shingles had blown off, the ridge cap was missing, and a tree branch had torn up a section.

How we fix it

  • At this stage we don’t recommend patching. We replace the roof so you get a fresh, watertight system with a real warranty behind it.
  • It also matters at sale time. A roof this worn would get flagged on a home inspection.

FAQ

Common questions.

What does it mean that Paramount is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor?
It means we install Duration shingles to Owens Corning's exact certified standards — and that's the only way your roof qualifies for their top-tier Preferred Protection Limited Warranty, which covers both materials and labor.
What is the SureNail® Technology on Duration shingles?
SureNail® is a reinforced nailing strip built into the shingle that delivers exceptional fastener grip and earns Duration shingles a 130 MPH wind rating.
Do you tear off the old roof or install over it?
Always a full tear-off down to the deck. Laying new shingles over an old layer hides rot in the deck, piles on weight, and voids most manufacturer warranties — so we never do it.
